Follow-up care for long-term survivors of ovarian cancer is to become a statutory health insurance benefit. Study still looking for participants in Dresden, Fürth, Hamburg, Tübingen and Wolfsburg

The Survivorship Clinic at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is Germany’s first consultation for long-term survivors of gynecological tumors. The consultation addresses issues such as fatigue, sleep disorders, polyneuropathy, osteoporosis, and topics related to private and professional reintegration.

The consultation hour under the direction of Dr. Hannah Woopen is designed as a study. The long-term goal is to establish the consultation as a national health insurance service, because women with or after gynecological tumors are usually offered follow-up care only for the first five years after initial diagnosis, but not beyond that.

Supraregional study for women with gynecological tumor disease (ovarian/fallopian tube/peritoneal/cervical/uterine body cancer).

What many don’t know: Not only patients from Berlin and Brandenburg can participate in the consultation, but there are nationwide control centers that are also still looking for participants. If your gynecological cancer diagnosis (ovarian/fallopian tube/peritoneal/cervical/uterine body cancer) dates back 5 years or more, you can participate as a participant in the so-called control group in Dresden, Fürth, Hamburg, Tübingen and Wolfsburg and support the Survivorship Clinic. No attendance appointment is necessary. You will be asked to fill in questionnaires (online or paper) after 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. In this way, you will support the very important project for better care for women with ovarian cancer and other gynecological tumor diseases and help close the gap in care for long-term survivors.
